Disadvantages of using Wireless Sensor Technology

With the use of wireless sensor equipment as one of the advanced technological method, it has the negative effects to the farmer. The sensor itself consumes more energy thus limiting the farmer on using it at some point. Energy is an important aspect in bird layering since its source of lighting for visibility and growth.

The sensor equipment is very complicated in that it requires skills in placement. Therefore, if the farmer is not well skilled with the sensor, he/she may need someone familiar with it to do the placement. This requires funds to pay the person for the task. The farmer can also be educated in the same to do on his /her own which is expensive.

The sensor is so weak in that it cannot withstand the aspects of certain environment. Due to this it has fault tolerance. This lead to poor result due to varying workability output. The sensor may give different and unexpected results. A gas that is being measured by the sensor can interfere with the performance.

In rural areas, the lack of technical support is highly experienced. This could be caused by low level of education or inadequate skills. The sensor is very delicate in that breakage is highly experienced. Due to this, it is necessary to employ a technician that will be working on the equipment as well as checking on it on daily basis. Electricity is also a problem in rural areas and the sensor needs it for it to operate.

The sensor equipment is of higher cost and also maintenance is expensive. This may even make farmers not to buy it especially to first beginners in layering birds and also to those with financial challenges. Though it is of great importance to the farmer in boosting their business, it may be a challenge in purchasing one.

Again, there is a probability of radio frequency interference to cause damage to the data stream. This could be so since radio waves move at a speed of lightning thus faster and its frequency is high. Therefore, the sensor may cause data distortion during transmission making it unreliable by the farmer.

When there is problem with the sensor technology, farmers using this technology will be caused to abandon their projects till the problem is rectified. This will bring an abrupt great loss in the business that farmers had not prepared for.

With the use of sensors, noise pollution is highly experienced. Sensors use electricity and during the working process, electrical noise is produced. This noise may affect both the farmer and the birds as well. Noise pollution may affect eardrum and can cause deafness.

 Disadvantages of dim lighting regimes

With the use of dim light technology, there is high death rate to birds. This is caused by malnutrition in birds. The dim light is ineffective to birds therefore there is struggle in looking for feeds and end up not seeing the feeds. This inability to see feeds cause anger to birds thus end up dying.

When the corneal of the eye decreases its thickness, the eye lens becomes damaged. The dim light is the one that leads to the thickening of the corneal this eventually can lead to blindness in birds thus bringing a bigger loss to farmers.

The dim light is not all that good since clearness of seeing in birds is poor. This may create fearfulness in birds since there is no clarity of objects to them. The birds may even develop fear among themselves because they cannot see each other well.

The dim light can also affect birds to the point of lowering their carcass and tender yielding. The birds reduce their productivity slowly. This lowers income generation since products reduce in their amount.

Dim light also affects the growth of birds physically. The dim light can cause disorder in legs thus lameness. Adequate lighting is very necessary in birds since it’s a necessity in borne formation. When the bones are poorly formed, the legs weaken and staggering in birds is observed.

Disadvantages of robot technology in poultry

With the use of robots, human effort is not needed since it takes part that human being performs. Due to this, there is loss of jobs to individuals that are employed to take care of birds. Therefore, unemployment may increase due to many people that will go jobless.

Without electricity, it is made difficult for robot operation. Robots work under constant power for effective running. It is then impossible to use robots in remote areas with no electricity. The electricity is also expensive to have it throughout. When electric power has a problem, the work stops until it’s in order and this may be challenging to a farmer.

Robots are also meant to perform specific task and not all tasks. This is a bit challenging since some tasks will need to be done manually by the farmer. With the performance of few tasks, they have minimal practical use.

Robots are made by human beings. Therefore, they require expertise to set them up.in regards to this, skilled personnel are the one who can perform all these since without knowledge of how to make them it’s impossible for them to function.

Robots needs repair since they suffer expensive faults and repair. Sometimes robots may become damaged and needs repair which is expensive. If the farmer is not well skilled with the robot, hiring skilled person to do the repair is required.

With the invention of robot, human beings have shown over reliant on robot. Almost everything is being relied on the help of robot, in birds layering; robot has been widely depended on to carry out most of the tasks like egg collection, feeding, drug administration and many more. This can even create unaware of farmers on the progress of their birds mostly in terms of health status. Birds can sometimes infect and spread diseases among themselves without the notice of the farmer since robot is allowed to do all things in the farm forgetting that some tasks can’t be carried out by robot.
